About a week ago, my uncle called and asked me if I wanted a pet turtle. Immediately I said YES. After I hung up, I noticed I don't know anything about taking care of a turtle. So I had to do allot of research. One thing I learned from my research is that female turtles grow twice as large as a male. For example a Painted turtle male can grows up to at least six inches... Imagine how big a female Painted turtle would be.
I also researched what type of food they eat. Turns out it's allot. But the sound of some of them, doesn't seem that appetizing to us. Anyways, after I finished my research. It looks like a bunch of more work than you can think of, for example, how much water they need, what temperature, if it's a Basking Turtle it needs a basking are so it can totally dry off, the food they eat, etc. But hopefully once I get my turtle. I'll be able to handle it.
Examples Of What Turtles Eat:
- Lettuce
- Turtle food from store
- Worms
- Waxing Worms
- Dog Food Can... But only for a treat once in a while
- Squash
- Strawberries
- Banana's
- Berries
